CWS promotes construction of water systems that are culturally and environmentally friendly in target communities to mitigate effects of drought, floods and in general climate change. These includes sand dams, rock catchments, shallow wells, earth dams and boreholes equipped with solar panels.CWS also conducts various food security and livelihoods activities (small-scale food production using drip irrigation, drought friendly animal husbandry, local poultry keeping and small businesses.) CWS provides training on disaster risk reduction and natural resource management, including watershed protection and environmental conservation.CWS provides emergency food aid, often in partnership with members of the ACT Alliance.
