World Concern is currently one of the few international NGOs working to support the Horn of Africa famine response on both sides of the Kenya-Somalia border. Because World Concern seeks to transform the lives of those in poverty, their work in this area is twofold. The first is providing emergency health and nutritional care and supplies, including food, water for both people and their livestock, and non food items such as plastic sheeting, cooking pots and blankets. The second is the emergency recovery stage in which World Concern continues working with the famine victims once the rains return to help people rebuild their lives. This includes sand dam rehabilitation, restocking of livestock, rangeland rehabilitation and seed/tool distributions where applicable.
